Blanket Sanitation Protocol Details
Fleece & Thank You partners with UNX Industries to bring 99.999% germ free and HyClean Certified blankets to our children’s hospital partners. UNX is the chemical provider for hospital laundries around the country.
We also partner with ImageFirst to help with the increased demand of blanket washing needed to support our growing hospital partners. ImageFIRST is the largest national linen provider specializing in the medical market. They provide laundry services to health systems, hospitals, and outpatient facilities in all major U.S. markets. As leaders in infection prevention, ImageFIRST is also the owner and operator of most HLAC-accredited facilities in the nation.
In our washing process, we use pre-measured amounts of Vanguard in timed combination with the Aquawing Ozone System® to bring our blankets to their 99.999% germ free state.
Why do we use Vanguard?
Vanguard, or Liquid Quaternary Ammonium Bacteriostat, is based on a highly active mixture of three Twin Chain quaternary ammonium compounds. Soiled and contaminated fabrics such as diapers, hospital and institutional linen, and athletic apparel is of major housekeeping concern, not only in hospitals, but in institutions, hotels, restaurants and schools. Vanguard is designed for commercial and institutional laundry use by addition to the final rinse step.
Vanguard is
- An EPA Registered product
- A member of UNX’s HyClean Program and provides effective residual bacteriostatic and self-sanitizing properties for laundries of all size
- Protects linen from recontamination providing a minimum 24-hour residual efficacy on every loop, towel or uniform (when used as directed)
- Effective against Staph, MRSA and other bacteriostatic pathogens
- Extremely concentrated product, which makes it economical to use
- Recommended for hospitality, healthcare, athletic, and industrial accounts
Why do we use Ozone?
Ozone is environmentally friendly.
Unlike chlorine bleach, ozone isn’t a harsh chemical. Most ozone disappears as it cleans and the rest returns to breathable oxygen in 20 minutes or less. Ozone means less chemical residue, no harmful or unwanted odors and fewer chemicals entering the septic system.
Ozone is washroom friendly.
Ozone is a great disinfectant with 150% the germ killing power of chlorine. Eliminating bacteria makes for healthier washrooms. In fact, the Aquawing ozone system is proven to kill over 99.999% of all bacteria on every wash!
Ozone is linen friendly.
As it cleans, Ozone loosens the fabric and releases all types of soil. Fluffier towels and softer sheets are the result. With ozone, linen comes out cleaner. Ozone also increases linen life. Ozone makes linens feel and smell great. Ozone is part of nature, and it’s the reason linen smells clean when hung in the sun.
Ozone kills 99.999% of bacteria on every cycle, including the superbugs C.Diff, Aspergillus Niger, MRSA, HIV, and Hepatitis!
Fleece & Thank You Maintains EPA Standard Certification
What does it mean to be HyClean Certified?
The standard wash process* is effective in providing protection from the Coronavirus and ensuring your linen comes out hygienically clean. Products within the HyClean program protect linen from being re-contaminated by harmful pathogens once it leaves the laundry and makes its way back into circulation.
The UNX HyClean program uses one of two EPA registered bacteriostat and residual self-sanitizing products in the wash wheel. These products lend self-sanitizing properties to the garments during transport and storage of the goods.
*i.e. appropriate combinations of chemicals, pH, water, temperature, water transfers, and mechanical action
