Blanket Therapy
What is Blanket Therapy?
Fleece & Thank You provides blanket therapy to patients facing extended hospital stays. Blanket kits made at these sessions come from previous blanket-making events that choose to donate excess blanket kits to this program. We currently provide Blanket Therapy at two of our hospital partners: C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital.
The Impact
For many of our patients, Blanket Therapy is an opportunity to leave the stress and anxiety of their hospital room and find relief from the exhausting routine of their treatments. It is a time for them to step outside of their treatment mindset and use their time to create comfort for other patients just like them.
Blanket Therapy also is an outlet for families of patients in the hospital. With a lot of idle time during hospital stays, we see mom, dad, brother, sister or other family members attend Blanket Therapy to also help take their mind off the treatment journey and give back to others.
How You Can Support
We want to offer our Blanket Therapy program at all of our hospital partners, and we need your support to make this possible. You can provide a donation directly to this program (every $30 provides another blanket at our therapy program), offer to volunteer your time to participate in one of our existing sessions, or host an event and donate your unmade blanket kits for patients to make.
